Over the summer I was given the opportunity to photography a local band, Stone Baby, at a few different venues, most recently at the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park. At the end of their set the band leader tells me that when I'm photographing the band, "you walk around like you don't care, but come away with great shots."
We talked further about my approach and what I'm looking for while photographing the entire band while they're playing.

After, I started to wonder.... Do I really look like I don't care????? How can that be? I love what I do! Photographing a wedding, family portrait, a concert, no matter what I'm doing, I'm very into it. What I do isn't a job to me. Photography is to much fun to call what I do for a living a "job".
So... I think it's more my concentration on the band and lighting, looking for specific images or looks I want.
Each band member has their own personalities and that comes across while they play, I want to capture that. The lighting is always difficult on stage and I need to adjust for that. Also trying to work around the stage and stay out of the way of their fans is a concern.

Photographing Stone Baby is fun, good music and a night out. Something I really enjoy.
