A0014 This blog post is inspired by a meeting I had recently.

The meeting was with a realtor.  He asked if I was interested in photographing houses for his realty office.  He needed the images "processed".  This was the word he used.

He showed me a web listing for a property with images of a house.  Well... in my opinion the images were so over edited, over saturated.  The colors were not natural.   I was positive the house didn't really look like the photos.

His explanation, "It's gets them in the house."   My next question, Yes, however, what happen once they see the real thing?   His response:  "Well........"

I explained, that your perception to what you think your clients want to see and what they really see are two different things.  I explained, he should stop the over editing and show photos of the house that are natural.  You won't have that let down at the door.  They would more likely stay interested once inside.

Why am I telling you this?    

With you wedding or portrait session, natural stunning portraits, well lit, well posed or the perfect capture of a candid moment will mean so much more as time passes than an over edited, off colored, poorly posed, candid photo with no meaning.   

An experienced photographer understands lighting and posing.  How to make you look great in you photos.  Where to find the best light, how to find the best light.   When and where to look for that perfect moment.   

0018 An experienced photographer will not deliver thousands of mediocre images.  An experienced photographer will deliver a set of images that may not be thousands, however, every one of those photos will be a treasure. 

Perception vs. Reality:  Experience vs Inexperience.  Quality vs Quantity.  In love with your photos vs they were ok.   Great vs good enough.

When it comes to your wedding photography, you should never settle for good enough.
